Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac, located in Yarmouth NS, is home to 79 long-term care Residents. We are a provincially funded, non-profit organization that provides 24/7 care. Villa Saint-Joseph has a strong interprofessional team and a new facility (opened in 2015) which allows us to promote a safe, clean, home-like environment for our Resident and care partners.
Responsibilities:
This is a combined role of scheduling duties for all departments (including relief for Nursing scheduler) but with a primary focus on the Support Services/Maintenance departments. This role includes assisting the Director of Maintenance/Environmental Services with oversight of the Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Staff, audits/inspections, coordinating work orders and job duties, assistance with supply ordering, receiving and distribution. The incumbent is required to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures and Resident-Centered Care Philosophy of the Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac and reports directly to the Director of Maintenance & Environmental Services.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage complex scheduling needs and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate with staff, management and other departments
- Problem solving abilities to address challenges and find solutions to unexpected issues
- Adaptability to be flexible with adjusting work schedule based on changing resident and facility needs
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and confidentiality in matters pertaining to the organization
- Computer skills and ability to manage a variety of software programs such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic scheduling, etc.
- Physically capable of performing all duties
- Neat and clean in appearance
- Ability to maintain good attendance
- Capable of functioning independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience with facility maintenance and environmental services preferred
- Skilled trade experience is an asset
- Previous experience working with SSC (Staff Schedule Care) and within a unionized environment is a definite asset.
