Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Newdock, is seeking a Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join the team located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Newdock delivers world-class ship repair and refit services for marine vessels spanning many industries. Established in 1884, it is one of the oldest shipyards in Canada serving the marine industry in eastern Canada.
What you will be doing:
- Executing routine inspections and service procedures
- Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems
- Investigating and repairing general equipment breakdowns
- Performing engine diagnostics
- Ensuring repairs are carried out according to the manufacturers' procedures and in a safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe
- Assisting in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures.
- Ensuring service documentation and mechanic logs are maintained
- Training and/or assisting other technicians or apprentices with their work
- Participating in any technical training or development training that is made available
- Managing large volumes of work and stressful situations
What you will bring:
- Background and/or education in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanics.
- Knowledge in Computer based maintenance programs.
- Must have a valid Heavy Equipment Repair Certificate or equivalent training and experience
- Must be familiar with forklifts, manlifts, hydraulic cranes and diesel engines.
- Strong work ethic to produce quality work in a timely manner to meet the needs of the company
- High degree of product and technical knowledge
- Flexibility for temporary shift changes, overtime and/or extended hours as required, this may occur on a regular basis.
