YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Executive Assistant, the UNB Yukon - Student Navigator & Non-Academic Advisor works in collaboration with the Yukon Coordinator and the UNB academic advisor at the Moncton site. The position is the initial contact for Yukon students entering the program, providing support and demonstrating leadership for student success as they progress through the program is pivotal for student retention. This position is the main communications link between the Yukon Coordinator and UNB and is responsible for ensuring that communications with the Yukon Government are addressed expeditiously.

  • Provide ongoing mentorship to the Yukon Coordinator to support the development of mutually beneficial partnerships with health care agencies, clinical placement personnel, community leaders, non-government organizations (NGO's), partner institutions for community and institution-based practicum experiences.
  • Hold responsibility as the administrator and data manager for electronic recordkeeping and analytics for student, faculty, agency requirements.
  • Support the Yukon Coordinator to ensure clinical instructors receive their Typhon orientation, training, and ongoing technical support from UNB.
  • Work with the Yukon Coordinator to develop clinical placement schedules for all students and instructors.
  • Develop a system to ensure arrangements are made and communicated to instructors and students for placement-specific access requirements (e.g., security access, computer access, confidentiality forms, review of organizations policies.).
  • Supervise student and faculty compliance consistent with clinical partner policies to secure clinical placements for the Yukon site.
  • Participate in the organization and facilitation of orientation events for incoming students.
  • Collaborate with/or share responsibilities with the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nursing as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Strategist Clinical Programming & Placements to ensure compliance with clinical placement affiliation agreements for Yukon, Fredericton and Moncton undergraduate programs, graduate programs, and out of province preceptorship.
  • Act as a System Administrator to the online assessment application Typhon- this includes preparing each clinical course section for instructors and students, maintaining Typhon application protocol and manuals for faculty, students, and section administrators.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department.

WHAT YOU BRING

Post-secondary education in business, secretarial, office administration. A University Degree would be an asset.

  • Experience/skill in administering web-based applications.

  • Excellent time management skills - manage complex tasks under time pressure with attention to detail.
  • Ability to initiate and organize work independently.
  • Ability to meet the timelines of the Faculty and the University at large.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Proficiency in technical support in collaboration with UNB-ITS.
