Definition of Work:
Reporting to the Regional Director of Long Term Care/Rural Health. This position is accountable for the coordination, support, program/skills development/evaluation and day-to-day management of client care services in long term care at the GFW Long Term Care Home. There is accountability for providing leadership in advancing nursing knowledge and professional practice to ensure evidence based individual care of residents, and for directing and developing nursing practice within the program. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with physician colleagues and other program managers, to ensure continuity and coordination across program areas and operations of the organization. Responsibilities will include managing human resources; program development and evaluation; implementing and maintaining best practices in long term care; fiscal and budgetary management; patient safety/risk management and quality improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive approach to program planning and evaluation within the long-term care program at GFW Long Term Care home which will ensure effective and efficient service delivery. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree in Nursing
• Five (5) years clinical experience.
• Three (3) years recent experience in long term care.
• Current registration with the ARNNL.
• Demonstrated commitment to promote and support person-and family-centered care.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage change and to foster an environment which promotes personal accountability.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Completion of a nursing and healthcare leadership management program.
