Holland Power Services Inc., a subsidiary of Alectra Inc., is one of the leading power line restoration companies in North America with locations in New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and New England. We specialize in emergency power restoration, working closely with utilities to ensure swift and efficient recovery after storm events.

We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and detailed-oriented professional with advanced financial expertise to join our corporate services team as a Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Services, the successful candidate will help drive and support key accounting, financial, and risk management processes, as well as assisting with governance activities and leading process improvement initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our corporate services department and contribute to the continued success of the company. This opportunity will be based out of our head office, located just outside of Fredericton in Hanwell, New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist / support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial accounts

Prepare and present financial statements, cash flow analysis, and other cost and performance reports

Complete accounting research and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies

Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts

Perform detailed variance and expense analysis and recommend corrective actions to improve financial performance

Prepare financial analysis to support decision making with respect to operations, investments, and other strategic initiatives

Support audits and coordinate with external auditors to address findings

Monitor and assess internal controls and complete process reviews to identify areas for improvement

Support the cash management process and management of foreign currency risk

Support the insurance risk management program

Assist in the development of Board and other governance related material

Support the billing process related to storm activations on an as required basis

Other activities as may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong leadership and organizational skills with a results-driven approach

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities

Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, including financial modeling and analysis

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications/Experience:

CPA designation is preferred

Post-secondary degree in accounting or finance

5+ years of relevant accounting experience in a senior or supervisory role

Experience or certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement training is an asset

Experience in the construction or utility industry is an asset

Experience with multi-jurisdictional and multi-currency organizations is an asset

Excellent written and spoken English

Ability to speak / understand French is an asset
