THE POSITION:
The Halifax Convention Centre managed by Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of National Corporate Sales Manager with our Sales team. This position is a termed position with a contract that will be active for approximately two (2) years.
Reporting to the Director of Sales, the National Corporate Sales Manager is responsible for the development, management, and growth of corporate conferences and meetings hosted at the Halifax Convention Centre. This position is responsible for identifying and qualifying prospective opportunities and cultivating relationships with potential clients and partners to ensure event targets are achieved. Additional responsibilities include travelling to industry trade shows, conducting client site visits, regular database updating within the organization's information system and other duties as required.
The incumbent for this position will be based out of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) due to the location of the target client. Though this position is fully remote from our operational facilities it is expected that the incumbent will interact in-person with clients and prospective clients. Travel may be required based on outbound and inbound sales opportunities.
THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers and decision makers within the Corporate Meetings sector resulting in successful business conversions.
- Proactively generate leads and manage an active pipeline of opportunity.
- Support the development of and execute the sales activity plan, including critical tactics and activities to drive business growth.
- Monitor and assess market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to adjust sales approaches effectively.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential clients.
- Coordinate and host site visits or familiarization trips to the operational facilities in Halifax, NS.
- Achieve annual sales target and monthly activity goals.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments to set the stage for successful events.
- Other duties as required.
Administration:
- Maintain client accounts details with updates to activity and status of opportunities in organization booking system.
- Prepare and submit regular sales reports to the Director of Sales, detailing progress, forecasts, and key performance metrics.
- Prepare and follow up on proposals and contracts including negotiating and finalizing agreements.
Leadership:
- Work collaboratively with our destination marketing organization and industry partners to secure business for the Halifax Convention Centre.
- Proactively contribute to sales performance by setting personal goals, staying self-motivated, and demonstrating accountability.
- Professionally represent the Halifax Convention Centre in client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.
- Provide guidance and consultation to clients, ensuring their needs are understood and met with tailored solutions.
- Commit to maintaining ethical sales practices by ensuring transparency, honesty, and integrity in all client and stakeholder interactions.
Health & Safety:
- Report all safety hazards to the direct supervisor as soon as is reasonably possible. Take action to correct the safety hazard if possible and reasonable.
- Report all incidents and near misses to the direct supervisor as soon as is reasonably possible. Participate fully in the incident and near miss investigation procedure.
- Promote and follow all departmental standards and guidelines, job procedures, and equipment operation protocols to continuously ensure the safety of oneself, team members, and clients.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- Completed post-secondary education required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field an asset.
- Communicate effectively in written and spoken English
- 3+ years of experience working in a Business-to-Business (B2B) sales
- Experience working in hospitality, convention centre's, or the business events industry an asset
- Strong ability to use computers and software's (Microsoft suite of products)
- Experience using Momentus (sales and booking software) an asset
