Who you are:
You are passionate about teaching and vocational education and always seeking new ways to motivate students. You work well both alone and as part of a team and are able to work closely with others to achieve common goals. You place great importance on safety, ensuring that standards and practices are followed in all areas of your work.
Curious and on the lookout for emerging trends in the trades, you enjoy incorporating new ideas to enrich learning pathways. You are known for your communication skills, creative approach to problem solving and leadership qualities, which you use to maintain a positive and constructive influence in the school setting, including through your work with vocational teachers.

What you will do:
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping secondary schools increase the availability and accessibility of trades courses. This person will strive to diversify learning pathways, enabling students to explore careers in the trades and making sure that courses meet students' needs and align with their career/life plans.
They will help schools in the Francophone school districts plan and deliver trades courses by optimizing educational support for new teachers and reinforcing workshop safety measures.
The Learning Specialist will also help establish trades exploration centres at the primary level (6-8), giving students opportunities for an initial exploratory experience in the trades. In cooperation with the school districts, the chosen candidate will oversee the development of teaching materials, the equipping of schools and the training of teachers.
This person will also develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and associations within the sector to promote enriching career exploration that aligns with priorities in secondary education. The mandate also includes supporting initiatives to diversify pathways and prepare students for making career decisions.

The key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of trades courses in schools in the Francophone school districts by optimizing educational support for new teachers and reinforcing workshop safety measures.

In cooperation with the school districts, the chosen candidate will oversee the development of teaching materials, the equipping of schools and the training of teachers.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • A master's degree in education and a minimum of seven (7) years' teaching experience in an inclusive public education system.
  • Teacher's Certificate 5 and a minimum of five years' experience in vocational education
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a support or leadership role
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
Familiarity with the first objective of the 10-year education plan: career and life readiness
Strong teaching and project management skills
Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and promote a safe and innovative learning environment.

Salary:
Pay Band 7: $85,254 to $103,142 annually

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Opportunities for telework.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
