The Child Study Centre at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Early Childhood Education Support Staff.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Child Study Centre the Early Childhood Education Support Staff provides programming support for all children at the Centre however the educator will be working primarily with children aged 18 months to three years of age as part of a three-educator team. This position may be of particular interest to a candidate who has considered emergent curriculum and documentation of learning with very young children.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a trained Early Childhood Educator with a level 1 certification or above. The Support Staff has experience working with children who require extra supports and have the ability to work as part of a teaching team. They will also be familiar with research methods and observing and recording techniques. They will be familiar with the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum Framework and have experience working with children using an emergent curriculum approach. They will have effective written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will demonstrate a genuine appreciation for children and their abilities. Experience with pedagogical documentation would be an asset. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team of educators and to work cooperatively and sensitively with families. First Aid and CPR certification is also required. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Child Abuse Registry check and Criminal Records check. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Classification: 1 Year, Full-Time Term Contract Position
Starting Salary: Based on ECE Wage Rates
Start Date: April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026
