SALARY: $40.39 - $41.74 per hour, working 36 hours per week

This is a unionized position with UFCW Local 361.

SHIFT:

  • Rotating shift: 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week with a weekly rotation of day shift and night shift.
  • Shifts rotate between Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday/Friday/Saturday.
  • Premium time built in to regular shift schedule - on weeks Saturday is part of your 3 days on, Saturday is paid at time-and-a-half for 8h, double time for 4h of the scheduled 12h shift. Regular schedule would include two Thursday/Friday/Saturday rotations per month.
  • Night shift premium, $1.15 extra per hour. Regular schedule has two night shift rotations per month.
  • Option for additional overtime on holidays and weekends.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance, including troubleshooting, for brewery electrical systems, equipment, and components. This includes equipment common to the trade such as motors, panels, and control valves, and specific beer packaging and brewing equipment. Specific equipment includes:
  • Filtec inspection systems;
  • Ink and laser coders;
  • Volume, conductivity, flow, temperature, pH, gas measurement and other specialized instrumentation;
  • Electrical components of equipment such as a bottle and can filler, bottle labeler, palletizers and depalletizers, bottle and can packers, beer centrifuge.
  • As part of the preventative maintenance routine, inspect and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, and understand and adhere to relevant electrical codes.
  • Install wiring, outlets, switches and other electrical components.
  • Controls troubleshooting MCC, PLC5, and ControlLogix PLC.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of VFDs.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team with other trades and operators to ensure reliable operation of production equipment.
  • Follow plant safety, housekeeping, and food-production quality standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal, Licensed Industrial or Construction Electrician. Preference will be given to Industrial Red Seal, or Construction Red Seal with industrial experience (including automation controls, MCC, PLC, VFD).
  • 3 years experience as an electrician in a manufacturing environment mandatory, 5 years preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining PLC, instrumentation devices, MCC, VFD, and other production electrical devices and equipment. Understanding of ladder logic PLC programming.
  • Understanding of process control and packaging equipment: PLC5 and ControlLogix PLC, HMIs, user interfaces (e.g. on valves, HMU), PLS, PanelMate, and others.
  • Ability to install, commission, and troubleshoot frequency drives.
  • Willing and able to work shift work (days and nights), optional overtime and optional holidays.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and continuous learning mindset.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, or standing for extended periods. Willing and able to work in confined space (training/certification provided by Labatt), and working at heights including ladders and zoom booms (training/certification provided by Labatt).
  • Capability to learn computer-based maintenance software (e.g. for work order scheduling)
