Role Description
The Director of People & Culture will focus on aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals to foster a positive productive work environment. The Director will also oversee compensation reviews, benefits, training, recruitment, leadership development and workplace planning while ensuring regulatory compliance and championing internal HR policies. By collaborating with the Senior Management Team, providing support and guidance, the Director will foster an uplifting work environment that embodies inclusion and safety ensuring a welcoming, equitable, and respectful workplace. Prioritizing employee engagement through leadership development, human resource planning, and recruitment and retention, the Director will support culture change and collaborate in creating a workplace of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership and development of a comprehensive employee engagement strategy;
  • Oversee and update all HR policies and procedures across the organization, ensuring consistency, compliance, and supporting Senior Management with interpretation;
  • Serve as a resource to Senior Management on employee relations, performance management, leadership development, and more;
  • Lead succession management and workforce planning in collaboration with Senior Management;
  • Provide Labour Relations leadership and support, managing grievances, and playing an instrumental role in the negotiation process;
  • Oversee the implementation of annual performance management reviews and cycles, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and employee development;
  • Lead the full cycle recruitment and onboarding process, preparing job descriptions, conducting interviews, issuing letters of employment, and coordinating all onboarding paperwork;
  • Ensure any investigations, disciplinary actions, requests, or performance management issues are appropriately documented in employee personnel files.

Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are an approachable leader and problem solver with a positive attitude. You have demonstrated your ability to successfully lead change and culture-building initiatives in complex organizations with a diverse workforce. Most importantly, you are a confident and energetic individual who invites others to be just as passionate about their work as you are. Your excellent communication skills will help employees to grow continuously through your unwavering support and positive interactions.


Your qualifications will include:

  • Post-secondary education (i.e., Degree/Diploma) in Business Administration, Human Resources, or another relevant field is considered a strong asset. An equivalent combination of lived experience may be considered;
  • 10 years' minimum experience in progressive human resources roles, managing and supporting multiple functions;
  • Proven experience leading organizational change initiatives;
  • CPHR Designation holder (or candidate) would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience supporting both unionized and non-unionized employee groups;
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of human resources management, including statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Familiarity with Labour Relations functions and experience supporting conflict resolution, collective agreement interpretation, and collective bargaining;
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
