Salary Range: $26.10 per hour
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, Maintenance Repair Worker Lead Hand will:
- Oversee and support all maintenance trade employees including inspection duties, instructing and leading staff and help solve issues when needed. The Facilities Manager is available for guidance and advice if necessary.
- Oversee and assist contractors. The MRW Lead Hand will keep the Facilities Manager apprised of any issues hazards, risks or opportunities for continuous improvement, as necessary.
- Assist with facilities maintenance of a routine nature involving carpentry, plumbing and electrical work; interior/exterior building repair.
- Maintenance of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and boiler systems.
- Assist trades people on some repair and maintenance work, maintaining construction materials inventory and estimating costs of jobs.
- Snow removal and grounds work as required.
- Maintain simple records and reports and assigning work tickets.
- Coordinate of allied functions within NBCC. Typical examples of this are: coordinating with the Custodian Lead Hand on events such as graduation or preparations for term start up.
- Investigate requests for repair (maintenance) work prior to assignment/acceptance and assigning of work tickets.
- Orientation of the facility with any new maintenance employee.
- Recommend any training needs of staff to the Facilities Manager when needed.
Regular hours of work are based on a 40- hour work week. Additional overtime and weekend work may be required. This position will require shift work.
Education & Experience:
- Completion of high school or GED, and 1-3 years' experience at the semi-skilled level in the building, electrical and/or mechanical occupations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- WHIMS certification, Fall Arrest and Forklift training will be provided by the employer.
- Some experience with oversight of a team.
- Microsoft Office Suite computer experience.
- Time-management and multitasking abilities.
