Position Description
Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Graphic Designer will play a key role in creating visual content that supports the university's brand, enhances communication, and engages students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the community. This position requires a strong understanding of print and electronic design principles, creative software tools, and the ability to produce high-quality visual assets for a variety of platforms and formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution - Develop creative concepts and execute high-quality graphic design projects for university events, recruitment, fundraising, and marketing initiatives.
- Collaboration with Internal Clients - Work closely with key departments to understand design needs, conceptualize visuals, and align designs with institutional goals.
- Creative Direction - Lead the creative vision for graphic design projects, ensuring high standards in visual storytelling and brand consistency.
- Technical Expertise - Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other professional design tools while staying up to date with industry trends and accessibility standards.
- Production Management - Oversee production schedules, coordinate with internal clients and external vendors, and ensure timely delivery of design materials.
- Asset Accessibility & Brand Management - Maintain a well-organized digital archive of creative assets and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all materials.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field, with 3+ years of experience in a professional design role.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other industry-standard design tools. Experience with digital and print design, including pre-production and production processes.
- Strong conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and the ability to develop engaging designs that align with institutional branding.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with various departments and translate ideas into compelling visual content.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, and design principles, with a keen eye for detail and consistency.
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines to ensure inclusive design practices.
- Understanding of corporate or institutional brand identity and the ability to enforce brand guidelines effectively.
