Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Laundry and Linen Services branch within the Health Services Division as a Laundry Services Supervisor in Saint John.
Reporting to the Laundry Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assigns and coordinates laundry services activities; supervises the work of employees; interprets and communicates work procedures and policies to employees;
- Prepares work schedules; adjusts for workload; arranges replacements for employee absences such as vacation, sick, holidays;
- Conducts audits and evaluates production methods to ensure quality standards and production quotas are met and issues are reported;
- Monitors and maintains records of employees' work hours, overtime/compensatory time, sick leave, vacation, performance, and related information;
- Authorizes time worked and recommends approval/refusal of leave requests;
- Prepares and submits payroll data;
- Participates in performance appraisals and interview process;
- Records and maintains operational records;
- Monitors and schedules laundry service equipment repairs and maintenance;
- Communicates with other departments, facilities, customers and management to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve problems and expedite work;
- Evaluates and recommends supplies and equipment purchases; orders, stores and maintains inventory;
- Participates in assigned duties of employees to complete work and resolve problems such as clearing equipment faults, preparing carts for delivery;
- Ensures employees have orientation and training;
- Maintains a clean and safe work area; and,
- Other tasks as required and/or assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must:
- Possess a high school diploma or successful completion of G.E.D.
- Possess a minimum of three (3) years of previous experience
- Have demonstrated supervisory ability
- Possess knowledge and practical work experience in the use of Windows software (Word, Outlook)
- Possess written and spoken competence in English.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights)
- Working weekends and Statutory Holidays
- Variable work schedule to meet operational needs
- Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.
