Key ResponsibilitiesWith the support of the News Director, you will:
Immerse yourself in our community - develop community contacts, regularly check in with police, fire and ambulance, etc.
Attend news events, chase stories and follow up on files.
Attend municipal government, school district and regional district meetings regularly.
Edit and produce stories for television, radio and the web on a daily basis.
Collaborate as a team to brainstorm riveting story ideas and news coverage plans.
Expand your skills by reading news, weather, and sports on Radio and on occasion, take on the opportunity to backfill the anchor chair!
Other duties as assigned.
- Must be comfortable in front of the camera with a professional presence and be ready to dive into live TV!
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a mature and professional manner.
- The ability to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision at times.
- Degree or Diploma from a recognized Broadcast/Journalism Program or equivalent experience
- Experience and demonstrated ability to operate ENG camera and editing equipment
- Knowledge of Burli and Final Cut or similar programs, considered an asset.
- Preferred 1 – 3 years' experience in a similar or related position.
- A full and unrestricted Class 5 drivers' licence with a clean drivers' abstract is required
