THE POSITION:

Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Manager of Partnerships & Event Development for the Scotiabank Centre with our Business Development team.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Manager of Partnership & Event Development at the Scotiabank Centre is responsible for actively building a network of strategic partners and identifying new opportunities to drive business and revenue growth. With a strong emphasis on event development, this position works closely with event promoters, rights holders, and community stakeholders to ensure Scotiabank Centre maintains and expands its event portfolio. The role is critical in executing the Long-Term Event Attraction Strategy while continuously identifying new opportunities that align with the organization's objectives.

Beyond event development, this role strategically supports Premium Seating and Partnerships, ensuring strong relationships and exceptional client satisfaction. The successful candidate will ensure that commitments to key corporate partners are well-organized and effectively delivered. By fostering great relationships and maintaining a high level of service, this role helps drive long-term value and retention. Additionally, this position is a vital bridge between business development and operations, ensuring seamless collaboration to execute events successfully and meet client expectations.


THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for event promoters, rights holders, and other key stakeholders, building and maintaining strong industry relationships.
  • Proactively identify, prospect, and secure new event opportunities that drive Scotiabank Centre's business growth, including concerts, sporting events, and special events.
  • Manage and optimize the event calendar, overseeing multiple holds to ensure venue utilization aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the contract administration process, ensuring agreements are negotiated, executed, and fulfilled accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with the operations team to ensure event feasibility, logistics coordination, and successful event delivery.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and competitive venue strategies to position Scotiabank Centre as a preferred destination for premier events.
  • Use a proactive approach to driving business growth, identifying opportunities, and executing plans effectively.
  • Comfortably engage with external partners, event promoters, and corporate clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Other duties as required.

Administration:

  • Use a structured, proactive approach to managing business development initiatives, including event bookings, premium seating opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Utilize data and market insights to inform booking strategies, identify revenue-generating opportunities, and optimize business outcomes.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights on event bookings, partnership performance, and revenue trends to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage multiple priorities efficiently using strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Follow through on commitments and accurately manage contracts, schedules, and agreements.
  • Assist with account management of key partnerships, ensuring long-term value and alignment with Scotiabank Centre's goals.

Physical Resource Management:

  • Ensure that event-related documents, contracts, and schedules are properly maintained and updated in the appropriate systems.
  • Monitor business development tools and resources to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in lead generation and outreach.

Leadership:

  • Act as a key liaison between business development and operations, ensuring seamless coordination from event booking to execution.
  • Confidently represent the organization in meetings and discussions.
  • Build strong relationships with the operations team, ensuring all booked events are successfully delivered with a high level of service.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, ticketing, and finance to align business development efforts with overall venue objectives.

Training & Development:

  • Stay current with industry best practices, market trends, and competitor activity to refine business development strategies.
  • Support adopting new technologies and technical skills as they are introduced to the department.

Health & Safety:

  • Report all safety hazards to the direct supervisor as soon as reasonably possible. If possible and reasonable, take action to correct the safety hazard.
  • Create, promote, and follow all departmental standards and guidelines, job procedures, and equipment operation protocols to ensure the safety of oneself, team members, and clients.
  • Wear, use, and ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, and report any issues or violations within the team or onsite to the direct supervisor.
  • Report any damaged PPE to the direct supervisor promptly.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, sports management, event management, marketing, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of equivalent experience in a relevant industry may be considered instead of formal education.
  • 2+ Experience in business development, sales, account management, or a similar field is an asset but not required.
  • Industry-specific knowledge (event operations, venue management, sponsorships) is considered an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be available to work varying shifts when required, including mornings, days, and evenings.
    • Shifts can be up to 12 hours in length.
  • This position is performed at a computer station located within standard office cubicles.
  • This position will frequently operate within the Scotiabank Centre during live events. The following environmental conditions are present during these times:
    • Loud noise from events and guests
    • Low level of lighting
    • Lighting displays that include strobe and coloured lighting
    • Uneven surface and stairs
  • Other physical demands as required.
