We currently have an opening for a Junior Environmental EIT/GIT in our Mississauga, ON office.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or geoscience from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for professional registration (GIT or EIT).
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience (preferably in consulting) would be considered an asset.
- Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil and bedrock classification, overburden and bedrock drilling methods, and soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling protocols is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of environmental site characterization and remediation, and groundwater and surface water monitoring programs.
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations.
Main Duties:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
- Provide field and technical support to a wide variety of environmental projects; including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, and technical report writing and proposal preparation.
- Design and conduct field investigations, including: drilling and logging, test pitting, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well installation, hydraulic response testing, soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, installation of groundwater instrumentation, etc.
- Assisting intermediate and senior staff prepare technical environmental reports including environmental site assessments (Phase 1 and 2) and excess soil reporting.
- Interpretation and application of provincial and federal acts and regulations.
- Adhering to all company policies.
- Other duties as required.
Position:
- Contract until December 2025
- 37.5 hours/week (varies with client workload)
- Must have a valid driver's license
