Department: Post-Secondary Education Training and Labour (PETL)
Placement Description: The student will be mentored to understand the Employment Counselling process from both client and counsellor perspectives, working within the four dimensions: Career Decision Making, Job Search, Skill Enhancement, and Employment Maintenance. The student will be able to shadow an employment counsellor and gradually take on tasks such as conducting initial needs assessments and observing the development of employment action plans. They will also engage in public speaking during information sessions and job fairs, providing details about WorkingNB services. Additionally, the student will have opportunities to cover administrative duties, enhancing their customer service skills. By the end of the placement, the student will be well-versed in WorkingNB services and act as an ambassador for the benefits of working for GNB.
This role offers an opportunity for skills development with career-focused trainings, self-development workshops, and personalized mentorship.
Qualifications:

• Language requirement: English
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in social sciences

Skills/Highlights: This role requires strong communication and computer skills, proficiency in public speaking, and excellent customer service abilities. The role also involves administrative tasks and offers an opportunity to develop counselling skills.
