The following two (2) Summer Student positions are available at Crane Mountain Landfill

Classification: Summer Student(s)/Operations/Engineering/Technical Writing

Status: Summer Employment - Post Secondary

Reports To: Environmental Supervisor

Pay Scale: Pay Rate $20.83 per hour (Plus 8% for vacation and holiday pay)

Location: Saint John, New Brunswick

The Fundy Regional Service Commission operates Crane Mountain Landfill in Saint John, NB. Operating since 1997, Crane Mountain employs approximately 50 people. This fully integrated operation includes landfill, recycling, compost, environmental treatment and electrical generation facilities.

We require two summer students to rewrite and revise three of our key landfill reference documents: The Operations Manual, Environmental Management Plan and Emergency Management Plan. These need to be updated to reflect new and additional practices, as well as integrating cross-references for documentation and regulatory information. A modernized layout with a focus on practical usage will also be a goal.

What You Bring

This work is ideal for someone with demonstrated technical writing skills. Strong abilities in the Microsoft Suite are required. An ability to work in a team environment and a comfort to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals in-person is essential for success. Exposure to an ISO, CSA or similar environment would be considered an asset. The positions will require the students to work frequently between the field and the office. You must provide your own work boots.

The position is open to any post-secondary student; However, preference will be given to students who have completed at least two years of university or college in industrial engineering, operations management or a research-based program requiring technical based information reporting.

Our Commitment

Hourly Rate $20.83/hour (Plus 8% for vacation and holiday pay)

Frequency Paid Weekly

Work Term May 5th - August 15th, 2025

Duration 15 Weeks

Incentive $500 upon successful completion of work term & objectives

Work Hours 7:30am-5:00pm Mon.-Thu. & 7:30am-11:30am Fri.

Equipment Personal protective equipment (except work boots) & equipment provided

Reference All historical relevant documentation supplied

Report to Environmental Supervisor
