Placement Description: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Species at Risk Intern to lead recovery actions for various Species at Risk (SAR). Key responsibilities include leading community outreach events, conducting surveys to assess behavioral changes, and distributing conservation signage to landowners. The intern will assist with the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) by supporting farm participation and ensuring adherence to relevant practices. Additional tasks include assisting with field monitoring of SAR species (such as turtles and Furbish's Lousewort), managing data, and helping create educational content for the SAR website. This role will support ongoing SAR conservation efforts through both fieldwork and community engagement.
This role offers an opportunity for skills development with career-focused trainings, self-development workshops, and personalized mentorship.
Qualifications:

  • Language requirement: Bilingual
  • Studying in a field related to biology, ecology, environmental science, or forestry
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in data management, including the use of relevant software (e.g., Excel, GIS tools).

Skills/Highlights: Experience in outreach and community engagement, along with familiarity with species recovery plans and environmental regulations, is essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field settings.
