SummaryThe Producer will be responsible for producing and executing stories along with reporters for both on-air and digital platforms. The Producer needs demonstrated skills, developing story pitches, script writing, interviewing, reporting, chasing, field producing, and production/post-production techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Must have a passion for political news and an eye for definitive enterprise reporting opportunities.
- Generate story ideas that could be for that day's air or developed over the long-term.
- Generating, pitching and executing creative enterprise story ideas for multi-platform
- Collaborate with correspondents, reporters, editors, photojournalists, cross-platform producers, show and segment producers to create high-quality, original stories for the network.
- Coordinating reporting with others in the network working on story, acquisition of live sources, communication with newsgathering desks regionally and nationally
- Research and chase for shows and stories
- Manage production of reporter packages from concept to delivery, including idea generation, story research, newsgathering, writing for digital and package postproduction.
- Ensure stories meet CTV's editorial standards.
- Able to travel
- Other duties as assigned to support breaking news or newsgathering efforts
- Position requires outstanding news judgment, critical thinking skills, ability to create, share, and execute strategic plans
- Excellent knowledge of news and current affairs
- Collaborative and team work attitude as well as the ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to be persistent yet diplomatic
- A background in script writing
- Must be an outstanding writer and editor
- A strong interest in politics is essential
- Degree in Journalism
