The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Machinist to join our Divisional Shop team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site position.


As a Machinist, you will be responsible for laying out work, setting up and operating all types of machine tools and equipment to machine, bore, cut, fit, shape, drill, thread, face, turn, and mill all parts to precision tolerances and specified finishes. Your experience and skills will contribute to interpreting instructions, blueprints, sketches, work orders, drawings, and plans, determining working procedures, materials, and tool requirements on work assignments in either the shop or in the field.


Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of machining principles.
  • Perform any dismantling, fitting, or assembly work required for plan and mine maintenance or construction.
  • Perform any layout work, make sketches of plans as required, and calculate and determine dimensions, tapers, indices, and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
  • Select and grind tools in accordance with hardness, machinability, and other properties of parts or materials to be machined.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain trade tools and equipment.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

  • Fully Licensed Journeyperson: A valid Machinist Certificate for the Province of Ontario (429A) is required.
  • Minimum Grade 12 or GED is required.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of industrial experience is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of machining principles is required.
  • Experience working on lathes, milling machines, drill presses, boring mills, keyseaters, CNC lathes, and CNC mills is considered an asset.
  • Mechanical blueprint reading is considered an asset.
