RESL Pricing is one of the most powerful management levers available to steer the long-term profitability of the Canadian Personal Bank. Reporting to the Senior Group Product Manager, RESL Pricing, the Product Manager, RESL Pricing and Hedging Optimization will be accountable for expanding our capabilities, insights and business assumptions in managing the interest rate exposure risk in the mortgage and Flexline portfolio.
The role involves working closely with our Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) partners to design and implement strategies to hedge non-trading interest rate risk in the Bank related to RESL and optimize product margins.
Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Provide accurate forecasting of volume by client segments and exposure to interest rate risk considering business outlook, pricing strategy and product enhancements.
Provide updates on RESL product & volume performance and pricing strategy to TBSM and initiate, discuss and align on changes in hedging assumptions with TBSM as required.
Enhance the monitoring process and regularly monitor (intra and end-of-month monitoring) of funding ratios and hedge performance across various client segments and channels.
Act as the RESL subject matter expert in transformational initiatives to improve data, insights and process capabilities in the hedging process.
Provide subject matter expertise on RESL pricing to enhance the measurement and management of interest rate risk via the hedging process.
Review sources of RESL funding and build tools to optimize allocation of funding sources per RESL needs.
Collaborate with various partners in TBSM, Finance, Treasury, Analytics, and Technology to achieve business objectives.
Participate in the day-to-day management of the product(s), identifying and implementing product features and enhancements, providing business case support of recommendations, and assisting in the strategic development of new initiatives.
Deliver financial results for the product / product suite via operation of all available 'levers' (viz., pricing, margin, volume)
Communication of key proposals, findings and analysis through memos, slides, and personal interaction with RESL senior management.
Job Requirements:
7+ years relevant experience
Prior experience in Treasury, Finance, RESL, Pricing will be highly preferred.
Undergraduate degree and/or product management certificate.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and storytelling using data & insight.
MBA and/or prior management consulting background will be useful.
