The Corporate Services and Community Funding Division provides departmental services including financial management, strategic planning, and performance excellence, as well as oversight of human resources management and information technology development and support. It provides oversight and administration services for the Canada Community Building Fund, and the provincial Environmental Trust Fund. The division provides technical support and engineering advice to communities in addressing their infrastructure concerns as they relate to the applicable funding programs.

The Department of Environment and Local Government provides integrated stewardship through planning and management of land use, and waste management issues. It ensures effective enforcement of, and compliance with, environmental legislation and regulations and provides effective consultation and liaison with local governments, regional service commissions and Rural Districts on governance related issues.

What you will do?
As Manager of Accounting within the Corporate Finance and Administration Branch and reporting to the Director, you will be responsible to provide management and oversight of various accounting functions, financial reporting, and provision of support to senior management on accounting related matters. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • provision of ongoing support in determining appropriate accounting treatment on various matters;
  • ensuring financial reporting is completed within deadlines on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis;
  • providing support in the preparation of Main Estimates and Public Accounts;
  • provision of ad-hoc financial analysis.

  • Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
  • Office layout: cubicles
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)

Essential qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related field and a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or working towards it, with a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience which must include three (3) years in an accounting, finance and/or budgeting function within a complex financial environment.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Experienced use of Oracle and Excel;
  • Supervisory Experience;
  • Public sector experience;
  • Quality / process improvement experience;
  • Audit experience.

Operational Requirements
Occasional travel and/or working outside of regular business hours may be required.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage
Pay Band 5: $2,499 to $3,490 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
