The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician – Welder to join our Underground Mobile Maintenance Team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

This is a permanent on-site position, working a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation.

As a Maintenance Technician – Welder you will be responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining all mobile equipment.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Perform preventive maintenance checks according to plans on Mobile equipment including Loaders, Excavators, Drills, Conveyors, Haul Trucks, Jumbos, Bolters, and any other Mobile and fixed plant equipment as well as clean and lubricate equipment.
• Complete breakdown, corrective, and minor repairs as well as adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components.
• Inspect and examine parts and equipment in order to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done as well as test and adjust repaired systems to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications.
• Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on the work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
• Improving equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance and failure analysis.
• Be expected to work in a manner that is both productive and safe, and conforms to all site specific policies with regards to safety including maintaining and clean and tidy work area.

About You

Education:

• Post-secondary education in Welding is required.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal in Welding is required.

Experience:

• 5 years Journeyperson experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience with the repair and maintenance of CAT, Epiroc, Hitachi, Sandvik and Maclean Mining Equipment.
• Experience fabricating equipment parts and/or components to engineered specs.
• Previous mining and/or heavy construction experience.

Skills:

• Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment.
• Innovation and ability to use initiative.
• Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements.
• The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
