The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Addiction and Mental Health Branch as a Senior Health Consultant. In this role you will be a member of the team that will be responsible for the development and implementation of the key priorities outlined in the 5?year Addiction and Mental Health Action Plan.

As the Senior Health Consultant you will:

  • Provide subject matter expertise in system level Addiction and Mental Health Services;
  • Develop and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative working relationships with both internal and external key partners and stakeholders;
  • Establish project management plans that include continued data collection, stakeholder engagement, and implementation strategies;
  • Establish and lead provincial planning and implementation committees;
  • Conduct research activities and share knowledge of evidenced-based practices, standards, clinical tools, and other findings that can be used to help inform decisions;
  • Monitor new and existing Addiction and Mental Health Services through the use/creation of evaluation frameworks;
  • Analyze service utilization data and trends;
  • Create and execute comprehensive province-wide plans with the goal of informing and consulting relevant stakeholders to help develop project plans, priorities, and objectives;
  • Establish communication plans that support change management and sustained stakeholder engagement;
  • Monitor project progress using reporting mechanisms to ensure project success;
  • Prepare relevant documentation when required (i.e., results of research reviews, fact sheets, briefing notes, financial reports, etc.);
  • Prepare documentation to secure potential vendors via RFPs, purchase of service agreements, contracts, etc.;
  • Participate in various Federal, Provincial and Territorial working groups or committees;
  • Respond to requests for information from the media, public, stakeholders, etc.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or another related discipline.
  • Six (6) years of relevant experience related to addictions and mental health.
  • Candidates must be a member in good standing of a professional licensing body, College, or Association
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience with, or knowledge of, Project Management methodologies and principles
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, Change Management methodologies and principles
  • Knowledge of Research Methodologies, Principles and Practices
  • Knowledge of and experience with the New Brunswick Healthcare system
  • Knowledge of Applicable Legislation and the Department's Policies and Procedures

Salary: $75,478 to $100,412 per annum (Pay Band 6)
