Our client, East Coast International Trucks (ECI), is an authorized international dealership with locations in Moncton, Dartmouth, Millbrook, Charlottetown, and Bridgewater. ECI is a member of Steele Auto Group, Atlantic Canda's largest auto group. Now, we are partnering with ECI looking to bring an experienced accounting professional to their team in Moncton in the role of Controller.

As a Controller of ECI, you will report to the Director of Finance of Steele Auto Group and work closely with the Head Office Finance team, the Vice President of ECI, and the rest of the ECI team in managing the overall financial operations of ECI.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Train, develop, and manage the accounting team, ensuring proficiency in all accounting duties and functions.
  • Maintain accounting ledgers and schedule by reviewing and posting transactions.
  • Review and oversee day to day accounting functions including Payroll, AP, and AR.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting, including financial statements, balance sheets, and capital assets reports.
  • Perform financial analysis and accurate financial reporting.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal processes for all accounting functions.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement changes to enhance efficiency and controls.
  • Implement financial systems at ECI, including accounts payable automation and budgeting and forecasting systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Department Managers to support financial decision-making and operational needs.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Corporate Head Office as required.
  • Act as primary liaison with insurers and auditors.
  • Manage relationship with lenders and other key vendors.
  • Some travel will be required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary education in business/commerce/accounting or a related field.
  • Canadian CPA designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and payroll functions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
  • Technically inclined, with advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
