The Operations Finance team ensures the accuracy and integrity of internal capital financial reporting for the Operations Group, including the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly financial forecasts, and monthly operational cost reports, while collaborating across the organization to meet accounting and cost control requirements and continuously seeking process improvements and efficiencies.
The Business Analyst is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and value-added management reporting to enhance operational performance at both the department and senior management levels, while also participating in month-end closing and financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly accruals and variance analysis, coordinating budgets and forecasts, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
Key functions include:
• Oversee the financial performance of assigned areas by monitoring, analyzing, reporting, and conducting meetings. Provide strategic recommendations to enhance cost efficiencies. Support the budgeting and forecasting process by coordinating the preparation of annual and quarterly capital budgets/forecasts, ensuring that all supporting documentation is clear, concise, and comprehensive
• Prepare and post month-end accruals and journal entries and generate monthly variance analysis reports to support Customer Service and Transmission capital projects and programs
• Contribute to the optimization of operational processes by identifying opportunities for significant improvements, conducting in-depth analysis, and recommending process enhancements Develop measurement systems and perform audits to ensure compliance with established procedures
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and, when required, assume supervisory responsibilities in an acting or relief capacity
• Assist in the general rate application process by compiling capital-related documentation and conducting financial analysis to support evidence preparation and interrogatory responses
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Commerce
• Five years of related experience, two years of which should be in financial reporting and/or financial planning, including analysis and explanation of results
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement
• Intermediate proficiency with SAP or equivalent ERP System
• Experience with BPC budgeting software or an equivalent software
• Completion or current enrollment in CPA program would be considered an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
