The Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development is seeking an individual to join the Forest Operations and Development Branch as a seasonal Maintenance Repairworker, at the Kingsclear Provincial Forest Nursery, located at Island View.
As a member of the Forest Nursery Maintenance team and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Forest Nursery Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair work of a routine nature involving plumbing, electrical fixtures, pumps, motors, greenhouse heating, greenhouse ventilation, boiler systems, small/light/heavy equipment, and the repair and installation of greenhouse coverings; fabrication and repairing field equipment such as trailers, racks, seedling delivery truck boxes, sprayers, and crop irrigation systems; regular cleaning of maintenance shop and equipment; following all required health and safety procedures and complying with department and nursery policies. Other related duties may be assigned as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year of experience at the semi-skilled level in the building maintenance, mechanical and electrical occupations, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

ASSET QUALIFICATION(S): Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following: a minimum of two (2) or three (3) years of experience at the semi-skilled level in the building maintenance, mechanical and electrical occupations; a minimum of one (1) year of related experience in a forest nursery environment.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be prepared to: work a 40-hour week; work extended hours and weekends to meet operational requirements, as required; work with a high degree of independence and judgement; operate specialized equipment including power tools, generators and pumps, etc.; perform physically demanding tasks; climb ladders; work from heights; wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment; possess a valid class 5 driver licence as issued by the Province of New Brunswick, or equivalent.
SALARY: $23.72 per hour (based on a 40-hour week)
