Your every day with us:

As a Business Intelligence Analyst - Oracle/Microsoft, you will gain an understanding of our Group, Individual and Government client benefit business, including how they are structured and managed from a technical perspective. You will interact with other key business areas such as Finance, Business Development, Case Management, Underwriting, Federal/Provincial Programs, other IT teams and customers. This role will be responsible to design, develop and rollout Business Intelligence solutions from a Data Warehouse perspective.

This is purely a Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse Application Development team that can assist in your career objectives and work with you to leverage your capabilities and intuition.

This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture and data warehousing principles, data modeling, ETL processes, and proficiency in Oracle and Microsoft architectural environments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design solutions for projects which are compliant with BI Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Enterprise architectural standards
  • Design and develop modern Business Intelligence (BI) solutions including Performance Management Dashboards, Business Analytics Models and Visualizations, OLAP and Reporting
  • Provide modern information architecture technical designs and specifications for data integration and data storage to support new BI solutions
  • Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to drive Data Modeling/Data Warehouse/Data integration/Analytics and Reporting.
  • Use Extract/Transform/Load - OLTP & OLAP processes to load data store(s)/ data warehouse(s)/ data mart(s).
  • Design Relational, Dimensional and Tabular Data Structures for organizational data and reporting.
  • Leading technical design and project leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement and adoption of best practices including Lean Agile, DevOps, Continuous Delivery Pipeline, and ITIL

Qualifications
Education: University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or similar program
Work Experience: Experience in requirements gathering and analysis work. Knowledge of software development life-cycle methodologies; Working knowledge of business domain and/or application

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

Skill and experience:

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data warehouse solutions using Oracle and Microsoft. Monitor and optimize data warehouse performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • PL/SQL - Extensive development experience in writing advanced SQL, stored procedures, functions, packages, database triggers, shell scripts, SQL Loader and external tables
  • Data Modeling - Ability to create and optimize logical and physical data models for data warehousing and analytics purposes.
  • Data archiving and data masking experience.
  • ETL Processes - experience developing, implementing, and managing ETL processes to ensure accurate and timely data integration from various sources. SSIS, Python for designing, building, testing, and deploying data models and ETL pipelines.
  • Analytics Tools Integration - experience integrating data warehouse solutions with various analytics tools (e.g., SQL Server Analytical Services (Dimensional, Tabular, Cubes, Data Marts, Power BI & SSRS) to support business intelligence solutions.
  • Qualifications and experience - Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Oracle and Microsoft data warehousing and data architecture. Extensive experience with Oracle databases and Microsoft data warehousing solutions. Proven experience with ETL tools and processes.

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Advanced SQL, SSAS, Unix, JSON, CICD.
  • Experience with SaaS - Cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing multidimensional data models, hierarchies, levels, measures, and how to design efficient models for analytical queries.
  • Experience implementing dimensional modeling, optimizing cube design with effective aggregations, partitioning data strategically, writing efficient MDX queries, monitoring performance metrics, utilizing query cache effectively, managing memory usage, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks within the Analysis Services environment.

What you need to succeed:

  • You are a good communicator - you are a clear, concise and friendly but know how to communicate to different audiences such as clients, members and internal stakeholders.
  • You have earned a post-secondary diploma or degree and/or relevant working experience in business, technology or engineering
  • You are a problem-solving master, you are able to understand client requirements and have the ability to transform this into IT solutions.
  • You are detailed oriented person, you like the little details with the big picture in mind.
  • You have been successful in roles that involve either detailed analysis, quality assurance or systems management
  • This role could be a good fit for someone in an HRIS, engineering/process management or IT analyst career path
