Job Description

Lead significant system implementation projects in its initial phase and evolve into a broader role supporting various financial and business initiatives. With a strong focus on ERP integration, financial reporting, process optimization, and business analytics, this role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Major Responsibilities & Duties

ERP Implementation & Integration

  • Oversee the implementation of JD Edwards ERP at the company, ensuring alignment with operational and financial objectives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to complete the installation of JD Edwards ERP including providing hands-on training and support, ensuring seamless and timely transitions.
  • Define and prioritize enhancements in ERP systems and lead their implementation using both internal and external resources.
  • Review and refine company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure workflows are consistent across all company locations.
  • Assess, recommend & recommend utilization of the ERP modules or tools that can improve business outcomes and deliver efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Implement and oversee adoption of complementary tools, including maintenance of ERP and third-party add-ons across all business operations.

Financial Reporting & Business Analytics

  • Design and manage the establishment of scalable, accurate financial reporting systems.
  • Develop and maintain KPI tracking systems and build dashboards using Power BI to offer actionable insights into business performance and financial health.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to troubleshoot and manage financial transaction flows to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

System Oversight & Process Improvement

  • Analyze existing software tools and provide recommendations for IT system enhancements aligned with business growth.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define ERP user needs, ensuring alignment between system functionality and business operations (e.g., manufacturing and production).
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiency by recommending and overseeing new software implementation projects or upgrades that directly impact the business.


Month-End, Year-End, and Ad Hoc Support

  • Provide key support during the month-end close process by ensuring financial transactions are reconciled accurately in the ERP system and financial statements are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Support the Director of Finance through year-end financial activities, including audit preparation (working papers, schedules, reconciliations) and compliance reporting.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support evolving business requirements.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Offer technical oversight of the ERP system and provide consultation on how it's set up and utilized across the organization.
  • Ensure user application of ERP aligns with operational goals by coordinating with finance, IT, and production teams to resolve issues and address areas for improvement.
  • Act as a champion for system enhancements by designing training strategies, developing user-friendly functionalities, and improving system interfaces to enhance user adoption.
Core Skills
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills, capable of effectively delivering data-backed insights to leadership and cross-departmental teams.
  • Comfortable navigating the evolving challenges of a dynamic business environment and managing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, deliver actionable recommendations, and follow through with impactful solutions.
  • Adept at building relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization and fostering a culture of teamwork.
  • High competency in technology integrations and financial system optimization.
Education
  • CPA designation required, with at least 2+ years of post-designation experience in a senior finance role within Canada.
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading ERP implementations (preferably JD Edwards or other similar ERP systems). Experience optimizing modules, troubleshooting ERP workflows, and developing customized configurations is essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Excel (macros, pivot tables, data modeling), and other ERP software.
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing and/or construction industry is highly beneficial.
  • In-depth knowledge of costing and project accounting processes is preferred.
  • A strong background in FP&A or financial modeling and analytics is preferred.
  • Knowledge of third-party bolt-ons paired with ERP modules to evaluate and implement efficiency and process improvement opportunities is preferred.
