Who we are
We invite you to join the New Brunswick Archaeology and Heritage Branch! We are responsible for the stewardship and conservation of New Brunswick's 13,000+ years of heritage. We ensure effective enforcement and compliance with the Heritage Conservation Act by working with local, provincial, Federal, and First Nations governments, private industry, and the public.
What you will do
Reporting to the Director of the Archaeology and Heritage Branch, you will be responsible for coordinating internal programs and special projects, and assisting with regulatory project reviews, inspections, correspondence and the preparation of briefing materials.
Work Environment
- Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
- Open office layout
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Work flexibility outside of normal hours and travel throughout the province may be required
Who you are
You are an experienced planner and program administrator with exceptional project management skills and passionate about the conservation and management of the province's heritage resources. You are an excellent communicator and skilled at building and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues and partners. You have well-developed research and analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to easily communicate the results of your work. You thrive in a fast paced, client focused environment.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- A university degree in Planning, Social Sciences or Natural Sciences, or related field of study and four (4) years experience in planning, program administration, or project coordination/management
OR
- a post-secondary diploma of two (2) years in a related field of study and six (6)-year experience in planning, program administration, or project coordination/management.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of the historical and archaeological record of New Brunswick
- Knowledge of New Brunswick and federal legislation/regulations pertaining to heritage conservation
- Experience in academic and/or archival research
- Good writing skills to produce documents for both academic and public consumption
- Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices for the conservation of historic places
- An understanding of the technical analysis of building materials, the causes of construction assembly deterioration, and processes for evaluating building changes over time
- A valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the province of New Brunswick
Wage
$2,183.00 to $3,053.00 biweekly (Payband 4)
