The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages for New Brunswick (OCOL) is seeking one candidate to join the team as a Policy Analyst-Communications Officer. This position is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic professional who can write, plan and think in a fast-paced environment. As a member of the OCOL team, you may be assigned to any number of policy and/or communication related duties as required.

The Policy Analyst-Communications Officer will play a key role in the planning, development and implementation of various policy initiatives in support of OCOL's mandate, in addition to communications and media relations activities. Specific duties include researching, writing, reviewing all policy-related documents, proofing and editing communications materials, facilitating OCOL report production, verifying document translation, developing and editing website and social media content, planning and arranging events, preparing, setting up and delivering presentations and coordinating media relations.

The successful candidate will possess critical thinking skills, along with superior research, writing and editing skills. Familiarity with a broad range of communications tools and media, and the expertise to develop and implement innovative and creative communication solutions will be considered an asset. Candidates must have a focus for accuracy and detail as well as good coordination and planning skills. The ability to work independently, to be part of a professional team, and to manage multiple priorities, including certain administrative duties on occasion, is required. Starting salary within the stated range will depend on experience, skills and qualifications.

The position may require travel inside and outside the province.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should have a post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, journalism, commerce or related field with a minimum of two to five years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Candidates should have knowledge of the New Brunswick Official Languages Act and be familiar with the mandate of the OCOL.

Superior written and oral competence in French and English is required.

Technical Competencies

The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies: Planning and Organizing Skills, Presentation Skills, Written Communication Skills and the Ability to Use Office Technology, Software and Applications including web-based design.

Pay Band 6: $75,478 - $100,412 per annum
