Fundy Trail Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick's crown jewels. Spanning 2,559 hectares along the southern coast, the park features a stunning 30 km parkway with breathtaking views of the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. Open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October, it offers visitors an unforgettable chance to connect with nature and history.

Fundy Trail Provincial Park is seeking a dynamic and motivated Operation Worker II, with a focus on maintenance duties to join our team. This position is essential to managing the parks infrastructure to the highest standards. while ensuring the success of the park's operations to enhance the visitor experience and expand tourism opportunities across the region.

What you will do

Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of light grounds equipment to maintain and improve park grounds and infrastructure. They will complete maintenance duties to the grounds, equipment, trails, and buildings, keep up on organizing and cleaning, as well as ensure engaged and relevant interpretation through exhibits, guided tours, and interactive presentations, all while ensuring guest safety. The successful candidate's duties will include:

  • Performing tasks such as mowing, trimming trees and brush, and clearing vegetation using a variety of tools and equipment
  • Maintaining, repairing, and cleaning equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely
  • Conducting routine inspections and performing minor adjustments or repairs to small equipment
  • Regularly inspecting trails to identify and address safety hazards, including fallen trees, washouts, or rocks
  • Carrying out minor repairs or adjustments to trails, signage, and markers as required
  • Performing janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, and maintaining general cleanliness
  • Assisting in minor building repairs to support the upkeep of park facilities
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records, including a vehicle logbook, ensuring compliance with operational standards
  • Keeping all work areas clean, organized, and free from clutter to promote safety and efficiency
  • Actively contributing as a member of committees, such as the Workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee, to support continuous improvement
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Office Location: 229 Main Street St. Martins; Fundy Trail Provincial Park Administrative Building

Big Salmon River Interpretive Centre (Fundy Trail Provincial Park)

  • Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Light to moderate lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Uniform provided

Need to have

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
  • At least 1 year of related work experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Some positions require spoken competence in English and French. Other positions require spoken competence in either English or in French only. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have

  • Valid and up to date Emergency First Aid/CPR Certification

Wage

$22.72 per hour
