Fundy Trail Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick's crown jewels. Spanning 2,559 hectares along the southern coast, the park features a stunning 30 km parkway with breathtaking views of the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. Open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October, it offers visitors an unforgettable chance to connect with nature and history.

Join the New Brunswick Parks team as an Operation Worker I and help maintain one of the most beautiful natural spaces in the province! We provide meaningful work that supports outdoor recreation and conservation efforts, and we work collaboratively with stakeholders to grow the park sector and encourage New Brunswickers and visitors to explore our natural treasures.

What you will do

Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the park's operations and facilities, and will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the park remains a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for all visitors. The successful candidate's duties will include:

• Adjusting, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance on mowers, small tractors, and other essential equipment to keep them in top working condition
• Skillfully operating turf equipment including mowers, small tractors, and various gas and diesel-powered machines to maintain park grounds
• Mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling, picking up litter, and carrying out general maintenance tasks to keep the park clean and beautiful
• Operating chainsaws and other specialized tools to clear brush, trim trees, and maintain clear pathways throughout the park
• Performing a variety of tasks including painting, cleaning, scraping, and conducting minor repairs to park buildings and facilities to ensure everything remains in good working order
• Operating a range of equipment, including single-axle trucks, forklifts, small rollers, and hand tools, while ensuring proper pre-trip checks and maintenance logs are kept
• Conducting visual inspections of park equipment, check gauges and mechanical functions to ensure all tools and vehicles are in safe working condition
• Actively contributing as a member of committees, such as the Joint Health and Safety Committee, to support continuous improvement
• Supporting the maintenance of park facilities and grounds by performing other necessary tasks, including seasonal or emergency duties as required

• Office Location: 229 Main Street St. Martins; Fundy Trail Provincial Park Administrative Building

Big Salmon River Interpretive Centre (Fundy Trail Provincial Park)

• Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Light to moderate lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods
• Uniform provided

Need to have

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
• Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
• Some positions require spoken competence in English and French. Other positions require spoken competence in either English or in French only. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have

• Valid and up to date Emergency First Aid/CPR Certification
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training
• Chainsaw Safety Certification

Wage

$21.87 per hour
