WHO WE ARE:
The Dre. Marguerite Michaud Library is one of 63 public libraries that make up the New Brunswick Public Library Service. The library aims to be a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather while they pursue their educational, social, and recreational needs.
THE POSITION:
As a member of the library team, the Library Clerk provides loan service through an automated circulation system; provides basic reference service using traditional and electronic resources; provides reader's advisory service and assists in orienting the public in the use of library services; assists patrons in the use of information technology and promotes information literacy; assists in promoting the library and its services; contributes to the planning and presentation of programs for children and adults based on the library's programming schedule; assists in the delegation of tasks to volunteers, summer students and employment program personnel; assists in shipping and receiving materials; and assumes other duties as assigned. The Library Clerk will also assist in the maintenance of collections, the shelving of materials and shelf reading.
As a joint public-school facility, the library serves the public as well as the students and personnel of the École Saint-Anne.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds that include the following:
- Behavioural competencies: Client Service Orientation; Concern for Order; Effective Interactive Communication; Results Orientation; Teamwork and Cooperation
- Technical competencies: Ability to use Office Technology, Software and Applications; Presentation Skills; Written Communication
- Language: Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
- Education: Candidates must possess a high school diploma and at least one (1) year of customer service experience; OR have completed a library/information study program.
Working with us requires daytime, evening and weekend work based on schedules. Some travel may be required. Working with library collections will involve lifting.
Prior to appointment, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal record check for work with the vulnerable sector.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Salary: $709.50 to $850 bi-weekly.
