Fundy Trail Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick's crown jewels. Spanning 2,559 hectares along the southern coast, the park features a stunning 30 km parkway with breathtaking views of the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. Open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October, it offers visitors an unforgettable chance to connect with nature and history.

Fundy Trail Provincial Park is seeking a dynamic and motivated Labourer, with duties aligned with maintenance, to join our team. This position is essential to managing the parks infrastructure to the highest standards. while ensuring the success of the park's operations to enhance the visitor experience and expand tourism opportunities across the region.

What you will do

Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of light grounds equipment, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of all park grounds and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Performing janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, washing floors, cleaning bathrooms, and maintaining windows
  • Ensuring fleet vehicles are cleaned regularly, both inside and out
  • Conducting mowing, tree trimming, and brush clearing using a variety of tools and equipment
  • Maintaining, repairing, and cleaning equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Performing minor repairs and adjustments on small equipment as needed
  • Conducting routine inspections to identify and address equipment issues promptly
  • Regularly inspecting trails for safety hazards such as fallen trees, washouts, or loose rocks
  • Making minor repairs or adjustments to trails, signage, and markers to maintain accessibility and safety
  • Assisting with general building repairs and janitorial tasks to keep facilities clean and operational
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks to ensure compliance with operational standards
  • Keeping all work areas clean, organized, and free of clutter to promote safety and efficiency
  • Carrying out other tasks as assigned to support the overall maintenance and operation of the park

Work Environment

  • Office Location: 229 Main Street St. Martins; Fundy Trail Provincial Park Administrative Building

Big Salmon River Interpretive Centre (Fundy Trail Provincial Park)

  • Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Light to moderate lifting
  • This position may require some travel within the province
  • Uniform provided

You are detail-oriented, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard, and skilled in time management, allowing you to prioritize and meet deadlines. With a strong commitment to workmanship, reliability, and teamwork, you maintain the park's appearance and safety with care and precision.

Need to have

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Some positions require spoken competence in English and French. Other positions require spoken competence in either English or in French only. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have

  • Valid and up to date First Aid/CPR certification

Wage

$20.67 per hour
