The Anglophone Educational Services Division is on the hunt for a passionate and creative Instructional Designer to join our Design Team within the Learning and Achievement K-8 branch!

In this role, you'll work closely with subject matter experts to design, develop, and maintain online courses that are not just educational but engaging and inclusive for all learners. This role involves project leadership, instructional design, and content creation, with a focus on ensuring the integration of best practices in online learning and universal design for learning (UDL).

Who you are:
You are a creative, detail-oriented instructional designer with a passion for creating engaging, accessible, and effective online learning experiences. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with subject matter experts to bring educational content to life. You have a strong understanding of instructional design principles, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and are committed to applying evidence-based practices to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed. With excellent communication skills and a knack for managing multiple projects, you're able to prioritize tasks and deliver high-quality results on time. You're adaptable, open to feedback, and excited by the challenge of continuously improving learning experiences to meet the evolving needs of learners.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Design Services, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the Learning and Achievement K-8 team.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Course Design & Development: Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging online courses, including creating storyboards, instructional content, learning activities, and assessments in D2L/Brightspace and other platforms.
  • Project Leadership: Coordinate and lead instructional design projects, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Needs Assessment & Consultation: Conduct needs assessments to identify learning outcomes and provide expert advice on course development.
  • Collaboration & Course Implementation: Collaborate with graphic artists, developers, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of online courses.
  • Review & Quality Assurance: Regularly review and test courses for quality, accessibility, and usability, ensuring they meet pedagogical, technical, and curricular standards.
  • Content Creation & Editing: Write and edit a variety of materials, including course content, brochures, reports, pamphlets, and public-facing documents.
  • Ongoing Course Maintenance: Revise and update an extensive portfolio of online courses, ensuring they remain relevant and up to date.
  • Best Practices & Pedagogy: Apply evidence-based learning design strategies, including UDL principles, to ensure inclusive and effective learning experiences for all users.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Arts.
  • A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience working as an instructional designer.
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based instructional design principles and strategies.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a field such as adult education/coaching may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in French and English is required. Please state your language capability.
Nice to have:

  • Experience in designing instruction for deployment in online learning management systems, such as Desire2Learn/Brightspace
  • Experience leading online learning projects
  • Experience with authoring software, such as Articulate Storyline

Wage:
Pay Band 4: $56,758 ¿ $79,378 annually

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
  • Possibility of remote work within New Brunswick
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
