The mandate of the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (NBEMO) is to:

  • Promote the development of emergency programs at all levels of government encompassing prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
  • Lead the coordination of provincial emergency operations, assists communities, municipalities and regional service commissions with resources and encourages a cooperative and harmonized approach to operations to facilitate resource and information sharing.

Recovery Services is a unit in the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization.

What you will do
Reporting to the Disaster Financial Assistance Program Manager, the Disaster Recovery Engineer will be responsible for processing and taking actions in order to make sure the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements requirements are met according to the respective governmental guidance for the Provincial, Municipal disaster claims under the Disaster Financial Assistance Program and Mitigation/Innovation Recovery Solutions.

Work environment

  • Victoria Health Centre, 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours when necessary, during an emergency operation.

Need to have

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and Registered member of the Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of New Brunswick
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft applications
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Language competency: Written and spoken competency in English.
  • Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your résumé should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration

The following operational requirements are also required: the successful candidate will be required to meet and maintain the requirements for a top-secret clearance in accordance with the Government of New Brunswick Security Policy. The candidate is required to possess a valid driver's license for travel within the province.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge in Provincial and National Building Codes
  • Knowledge of municipal and provincial infrastructure (roads, bridges, trails, etc)
  • Knowledge of the National Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA) program
  • Written and spoken competency in French.

Wage
Engineer II: $2,658.78-$3,509.72 bi-weekly ($69,128.28 to $91,252.72 annually) depending on education and experience.

Recognition and Retention Program
The recognition and retention premium is based on continuous service with the Employer or in their registered profession

  • Fifteen (15) years but less than twenty (20) years ¿ 1.0%
  • Twenty (20) years but less than twenty-five (25) years ¿ 2.0%
  • Twenty-five (25) years ¿ 3.0%
