Horizon Health Network in beautiful New Brunswick is looking for a Regional Manager of Community Development to join our team!
Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking a skilled and adaptable individual to join the Community Health Department as the Regional Manager of Community Development. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams, understanding the linkage between the social determinants of health and its impact on communities, have a deep knowledge of community engagement, as well as the ability to navigate socio-political environments. The role will include proactive and reactive work, utilising key skills in partnership development, consultation and engagement, networking, project management and capacity building – leading a team of Community Development practitioners who support local organisations and residents to identify issues, needs and solutions to improve their community and their health needs.

Who you are (Qualifications)
You possess a bachelor's degree with a specialization in health or social sciences as well as five years minimum related experience. You have experience working within government and/or large social organizations, expert knowledge of social determinants of health and health equity principles, as well as other factors or variables that influence the health of individuals and communities. You possess a distinct knowledge of community development principles and frameworks. You have additional training in project management and organizational change/improvement. You also possess additional experience in leading teams including experience leading virtually. A masters degree is an asset.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of five years experience in health care, social or other related system, including at least three experience in a leadership role;
- Professional knowledge and experience in community development, community engagement and navigating socio-political environments;
- Experience in organizational culture change;
- Work experience in constantly evolving, complex environments;
- Communication skills including demonstrated (excellent) presentation skills with diverse audiences essential (e.g. executive leadership team, executive boards-provincial and national in scale, community led groups, non-profit sector, etc.);
- Ability to work in complex and rapidly changing environment;
- Ability to negotiate, inform and shape strategic direction;
- Ability to move knowledge to action;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational and time management skills;
- Experience leading and collaborating with teams, including virtually in addition to strong integrated system leadership;
- Strong writing skills are considered an asset.
Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level. French language ability is considered an asset.
Work environment
- Standard hours of work: 37.5 hours a week, Monday-Friday. Subject to change due to operational requirements
- Ability to work from home or a hybrid work arrangement
- Some travel within the province will be required. Must have a valid driver's licence
What you will do (Key Responsibilities)
- community development practitioners to ensure that there is communication and co-ordination to build capacity within all relevant stakeholders related to the prevention and promotion of social determinant operational delivery at the community level with a focus on health equity; this would include all administrative activities, human resource leadership and fiscal oversight and responsibility;
- Act as an expert consultant on all aspects of community development, supporting improvement based projects and initiatives either led or supported by Horizon Health teams;
- Support the evaluation of Community Health Department programs;
- Identify and report on key performance indicators;
- Attend meetings with various organizational, government and community stakeholders to gather data, evaluate programs, or report on findings;
- Develop or support the development of strategic frameworks, action plans, or models to support work of Community Development and the Community Health Department.
- Identify and continue to build on the strong partnerships already in this field, including other government departments, NGO's and community leaders to align mandates and continually advance and improve community development practice in New Brunswick.
