CGHSL29 of the Nape-HS Salary Scales, $29.62 - $32.62 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance;

About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to residents of Long-Term Care and inpatients on Acute Care. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing safe, competent and ethical nursing care while working within their scope. The LPN is responsible to maintain professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Care and reports to the Manager of Patient Services.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalency;
- Graduation from an approved LPN Educational program;
- Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL);
- Breastfeeding course/education;
- Knowledge of computer skills and an ability to work with Meditech is an asset;
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;
Duties
:(Included but not limited to)
- Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care and make decisions within the LPN scope of Practice;
- Participates in development, revision, implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans;
- Complete Nursing assessment consistent with scope of practice;
- Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident plan of care;
- Practices independently according to professional and organizational standards;
- Documents according to professional and organizational standards;
- Maintains competency and updates knowledge by availing of educational opportunities;
- Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities;
- Represents nursing on various committees such as unit council and other communities as deemed necessary;
- Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team;
- Keeps current with changes by monitoring communications (i.e. verbal, e-mail, communication book, etc.);
- Administer Medications;
- Other related duties as required;
