Purpose

Lead and oversee the GWO Commodities, Securitization, and Structured Finance Operations Team in Canada, ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed in compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Drive a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Ensure timely trade confirmations by tracking unmatched transactions and addressing root causes, and manage efficient daily settlement operations.
  • Develop and manage department processes and procedures to maintain key controls. Manage relationships with internal stakeholders for project delivery and conflict resolution.
  • Reduce client and reputational risk by maintaining team efficiency.
  • Promote alignment and consistency in geographic locations and adopt industry best practices.
  • Ensure SOPs are in place, regularly reviewed, and updated as needed.
  • Escalate issues and report incidents promptly.
  • Participate in and coordinate projects and initiatives within the business line or across GWO, aligning with strategic and regulatory objectives.
  • Support management efforts to motivate staff, enhance performance, execute training schedules, and assign responsibilities fairly. Conduct ongoing coaching and track performance.
  • Consider the Bank's risk appetite and culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Ensure effective operations and adherence to business controls, meeting obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team, fostering an inclusive work environment and managing succession and development planning.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
  • Experience in Capital Markets Operations/Banking preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of OTC Commodities ISDA trade confirmation and derivative products.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, Murex).
  • Strong technical aptitude, including experience with system automation and improvement (e.g., VBA, macros). Ability to identify and evaluate automation and technology solutions to improve productivity and service delivery.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain operational activities, including trade confirmation, settlements, and cash control processes.

Work Arrangement: This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
