Job Overview

At the highest level, Home Depot Associates must (a) provide outstanding customer service to our Customers and (b) drive the sales and profitability of the store. Customer service objectives include delighting our Customers each and every day and fostering long-term loyalty bonds between our Associates and our Customers. There are six key priorities that deliver the Home Depot shopping experience: 1. Having good quality products available (in-stock, broad selection) 2. Making it easy and safe for our Customers to shop our stores (uncluttered, navigable store) 3. Giving our Customers good value (everyday low prices) 4. Providing our Customers the help they need (available aprons dedicated to service) 5. Offering extra services (installation, delivery, special orders, etc.) 6. Making the shopping experience exciting and fun

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

ENSURES CUSTOMER SATISFACTION Provide customers with excellent service Set the example of customer service and GET Involved behaviour Clearly communicating and executing the design process including customer consultations Creating drawings by hand or through 20/20 design program Actively seek out customers in the showroom and in the aisles Give customers your full attention throughout any interaction Show excitement and enthusiasm to the customer Ask open ended questions about customers' projects in order to determine their needs and level of expertise Follow up with customers via telephone when appropriate Is knowledgeable about products and services offered by The Home Depot Serve as expert on showroom products in given department Qualify customers for product and or service add-on options (e.g. appliances and installations, etc.) Provide advanced product knowledge of other categories in department to customers Describe features and benefits of merchandise Explain the steps needed to complete projects and the products needed Assist customers with special orders and installed sales Resolves Customer Issues, recovers and retains customers Generate referral business based on establishing customer relationships Be proactive in identifying customers who need help or have a problem Proactively inform customers of situations that could impact their project Resolve escalated customer complaints or concerns, if possible. Escalate customer complaints or concerns to DS or ASM, if necessary DRIVES SALES Assesses customer needs and offers additional products or services, as appropriate Prospecting and engaging kitchen customers giving them reasons to buy at The Home Depot Qualify customers and sell the entire project, including attach products Walk customer through all available options (good, better, best) Actively suggest related items/services the customer may need to complete project Actively follow-up with special orders Promote services offered including Finance Options, Tool Rental, Pro Desk and online services Describe how products compare to competition Utilize feedback and business metrics to gauge performance Meets monthly with DS & ASM to review sales performance results and discuss sales strategies for: kitchen measures, S/O kitchens/cabinets, in stock kitchens, kitchen install attach rate, countertops measures, etc. Demonstrates a healthy quote pipeline and high quote to order conversion rates; is able to close the sale Is constantly and consistently one of the top Sales performers Achieves Credit, Lead, ESP and Measure results Steadfastly pushes self and others for results Faces challenges with an open mind and creates innovative solutions to never lose a sale

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows all Safety Policies & Standards and Works Safely Adhere to major & minor work rule policies regarding safety detailed in the "Standards of Performance" Report any incident/accident to the Manager on Duty Complete specified safety training courses Work safely and report Associates who are acting in an unsafe manner Offer assistance to customers who are shopping in an unsafe manner

Physical Job Requirements

Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items Frequently requires the ability to lift and move items without assistance Responding to public address system announcements Requires listening for customer service calls, personal pages and general information announcements Walking and Standing Requires moving around the store to assist Customers

Environmental Job Requirements

Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions May have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edges Passing forklifts emit gas fumes Tools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials

Minimum Qualifications

Be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends Knowledge of and adherence to Home Depot policies and procedures Proven ability to close the sale Exceptional customer service skills Strong computer skills; knowledge of 20/20 Demonstrated knowledge of construction and the ability to read blueprints and floor plans Knowledge of Kitchen and Bathroom cabinets Strong knowledge of all store products both in stock and available through special order Excellent reading, communication & math skills
