Early Childhood Centre

The UNB Early Childhood Centre has a long history of extensive research and curriculum development in early education including early literacies, family literacies, early learning and childcare, and kindergarten curricula. Research projects undertaken by the Centre are typically community-based and participatory. This centre partners with EECD, NBCC, NB Literacy Coalition, Born to Read, Talk with Me and early learning and childcare sites provincially, nationally, and internationally. This centre serves as a demonstration site for the UNB/STU/NBCC education program and the UNB Nursing Program.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 12:15 - 3:45 pm

Salary Range: $ 18.54 - $25.35 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Teaching Director at the UNB Children's Centre, the inclusion support worker will be responsible for supporting 4 year old children within a diverse and child-centered environment. The Inclusion support worker will work closely with the families and educators to continually adjust learning goals.

  • Collaborate with the Early Childhood Educators to model and support social interactions and relationships.
  • Support the children in the classroom.
  • Facilitate an environment to express thoughts and feelings, take turns, share.
  • Assist the children with personal care.
  • Offer different physical challenges, reasoning and comprehension activities, and activity transition.
  • Model and assist with learning social behaviours.
  • Collaborate with families and educators to continually adjust learning goals.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Introduction to Early Childhood Education (90 hour online course).
  • Experience working in childcare.
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Social development check

Additional Strengths:

  • Certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education is considered an asset.
  • Related Degree in Education or Early Childhood Development is considered a strong asset.
  • Previous childcare experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Strong ethical and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the mandatory requirements of completing;

  • Tools for Inclusion Webinars (available through Inclusion NB) - 3 months from employment start date to complete the webinar series.
  • New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Childcare (30hr).
  • First Aid and CPR training within 3 months of hiring.
