NB Power's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station is seeking candidates for its Nuclear Response Team (NRT). The Nuclear Response Team is responsible for the security of personnel and assets at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, ensuring compliance of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Nuclear Security Regulations, and all applicable NB Power Security procedures and processes. Nuclear Response Team Officers provide armed, tactical response capabilities, on a shift basis, in addition to conducting general security and security-related administrative activities.
Key functions include, but are not limited to:
• Carrying out foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and fence lines. Responding to alarms on site and operate conventional and armored patrol vehicles.
• Be prepared to provide armed, tactical response to a Station security threat.
• Conducting searches of persons, packages, and vehicles entering and leaving the facility, using physical and technological methods to ensure no weapons, explosives or other prohibited items enter the facility and to prevent the unauthorized removal of nuclear material.
• Monitoring and recording all vehicle traffic and personnel entering the site in accordance with approved procedures and operating policies.
• Operating and monitoring surveillance video and intrusion detection equipment located within the Central Alarm Station.
• Investigating incidents and preparing condition reports involving breaches of security regulations or other incidents discovered during security patrols or as requested by the Nuclear Response Team Sergeant.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Post secondary certificate, diploma, degree or on track to graduate in June 2025, in one of the following: Police Foundations, Police Science, Law and Security, Criminal Justice, Corrections, Criminology, or a course deemed an equivalent level of education
OR
• Canadian Armed Forces Military Service of either:
Regular Force with minimum three years of continuous service
OR
• Military Reserve with minimum three years as a Full Time Reservist
OR
• Military Reserve with minimum five years as a Part-Time Reservist
Submission of Members Personnel Record Resume is required for proof of Canadian Armed Forces Service
Candidates must also meet the following qualifications and requirements:
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• Must complete and pass Aptitude & Psychological Testing
• Complete a competency-based interview
• Complete medical screening including hearing, vision and bloodwork
• Must hold at time of application, a valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence
(PAL) for both RESTRICTED and NON-RESTRICTED weapons
• Successfully pass Fitness Testing consisting of the Ontario Police Fitness Award

Please note physical and medical testing MUST be conducted in person at the designated location in New Brunswick.
Our ideal candidate will also have:
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience carrying a firearm in the line of duty and the ability to deal with stressful situations
• Team orientated, but also able to work independently without direct supervision,
when required
• Possess basic computer skills with word, excel, outlook and/or access control
applications such as OpenText
• Physical ability to carry approximately 45 pounds of equipment periodically
throughout a 12-hour shift on a rotating schedule that involves working nights, weekends, and holidays as per shift schedule
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
Conditions of Employment:
• Security Clearance: Due to security requirements at Canadian Nuclear facilities, the successful candidate will require a Site Access Security Clearance to Level II SECRET. This process includes verification of background information, credit check, references, a Criminal Record Name Check, and a Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) security recommendation. Maintaining this clearance is a mandatory requirement for the position.
• Medical Clearance: Must be medically cleared as "fit for duty" by NB Power's contracted physician and maintain this status.
• Annual Physical Testing: Must successfully pass and maintain annual physical testing.
• Nuclear Response Team Training: Must successfully pass the on-site Basic Tactical Officer Course (BTOC).
• Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain Nuclear Security Officer status and Public Agent Status through the approval of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
