Demands, duties, qualifications
The purpose of this position is to oversee and assign duties to staff and provide coordination of the supplies and work for the 13 Community Clinic's including Black Tickle, Cartwright, Charlottetown, Hopedale, Makkovik, Mary's Hr, Nain, Natuashish, North West River, Port Hope Simpson, Postville, Rigolet, & St. Lewis. The Tradesperson III is responsible to provide trade expertise to employees under supervision and to participate in the repair, maintenance and alteration of electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing systems and equipment. This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Physical Infrastructure Support for Labrador-Grenfell Zone.

Qualifications
:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent;
  • Journeyperson certification in either Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical or mechanical;
  • Supervisory experience in Hospital construction/renovation setting preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with construction in hospital setting;
  • Successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Code of Conduct;
  • Class V Driver's license;
  • Computer skills and ability to work with email, Microsoft Word and Excel programs;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise considerable judgment and initiative in performing duties;
  • Ability to demonstrate previous experience in management or leadership roles.

Duties (Include but not limited to)
:

  • Ensures all work is in accordance with the National Building and Fire Code;
  • Ensures compliance with specification, HAZMAT regulations and " Nosocomial illness caused by Construction Policy and Protocol;
  • Oversees and participates in any preventative maintenance programs;
  • Prepares cost estimates for moderate to large projects; requisitions materials, keeps records, reviews material lists and quotes prepared by trade's staff;
  • Assists staff with the ordering and supply of material to complete routine maintenance and improvements in facilities;
  • Leader for CMMS work order system
  • Organizes monthly staff meetings with all staff to discuss ongoing departmental developments and issues.
  • Leads the hiring process of new maintenance employees and the annual performance appraisals of all employees under his/her supervision;
  • Directs all staff by delegating duties and responsibilities. Organizing work schedules including approval of leave;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
