Department Overview

TD Direct Investing provides self-directed investors with access to the tools, resources, education and support to confidently manage their wealth. Clients can access TD Direct Investing services through a variety of channels, including our industry leading online and mobile platforms, our licensed representatives available over the telephone and in person at our branches across Canada.

To help investors successfully achieve their financial aspirations, we offer a comprehensive education program that includes interactive, live workshops, guest speaker interviews, and curated video content that builds their knowledge and confidence with investing.

Job Description

Reporting into the Manager – TDDI Education Content Strategy, the Senior Business Writer will establish and oversee best practices for producing educational content roadmap deliverables, including video scripts, guides, articles, online communications, social media messaging, and other written assets that can be easily consumed by self-directed investors. Part of this oversight will include reviewing content from a risk perspective, to help ensure deliverables are written within the framework of industry regulations and legal guidelines.

The successful candidate will support the Manager – TDDI Education Content Strategy in collecting and presenting research and analytical findings to help inform our evolving content strategy roadmap, new initiatives or projects related to product releases and marketing campaigns.

The Senior Business Writer will communicate and delegate project requests with Business Writers and content producers, ensuring key objectives are met and executed to deadline.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with content strategist, data analytics team and marketing partners to develop content distribution strategies and target setting.
  • Conducting market research focus groups to help inform our content strategy.
  • Championing the education program across the enterprise.
  • Ensuring TD Brand standards and compliance, legal, brand, and other regulatory guidelines are adhered to.
  • Being comfortable working with executives and other stakeholders on special creative projects that will promote key messages and business strategy vision.
  • Having strong project management and organizational skills while being detail oriented to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Assist the Manager – TDDI Education Content Strategy in mentoring, coaching, and tracking progress of Business Writers.
  • Assist with the producing of live or on-demand content, which may include volunteer opportunities to be an on-screen host.

Job Requirements

  • Understanding of financial products, investment market concepts, personal finance, investing, and TD Direct Investing products/platforms.
  • Understanding of TD Brand standards and compliance, legal, brand, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Extensive experience creating written content for a variety of formats, including video scripts and for social media, with specific experience targeting Millennial and Gen-Z audiences being highly desired.
  • Exceptional editing skills and the ability to develop engaging materials for different audiences.
  • Understanding of the rapidly evolving digital media environment, including emerging market trends, platforms, and experiences.
  • Knowledge of best practices for educating and engaging adult audiences with complex topics.
  • Highly resourceful, organized, and a proactive problem solver who works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with presenting in front of a range of audience types, such as executives and large group settings.
  • Must be a quick learner and a self-starter who can take ownership of problems and quickly identify solutions.
  • Comfortable researching and communicating metrics from data.
  • Must be a critical thinker who can provide sound judgement on complex matters.
  • Experience training and coaching colleagues.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, respectful to diverse communities, champion an inclusive workplace, and ensure inclusivity is reflected in content produced for clients and colleagues alike.
