BMR is seeking to hire a permanent, full-time Junior Structural Technician or Technologist based in Halifax, NS. If you are a recent graduate with a passion for taking on new challenges, building on your skill set, and a desire to join a dynamic and growing team, we want to hear from you!
Your Education & Experience:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering Technician, or similar accredited program from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Completion of a relevant senior level project that you can speak to and take questions on as part of the interview process
- Eligibility for registration with TechNova considered an asset (C.E.T., C. Tech certifications)
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in structural detailing for wide range of building assignments (e.g., new builds, renovations, additions, repairs, etc.).
- Assist senior staff with project coordination involving all project stakeholders, both internal and external, where required.
- Develop high-quality drawings and 3D models under supervision of Project Lead including cloud-based design processes
- Become familiar with project specifications under supervision of Project Lead
- Review of technical submissions from external suppliers, contractors, etc. for compliance with contract documents
- Assist Project Lead in contract administration activities (RFI's, change orders, site meetings, etc. during construction)
- Assist Project Lead in conducting construction site reviews and producing site review reports
- Professionally represent BMR with clients and contractors based on a strong 'customer service' approach
- Actively work with senior staff on developing mentoring road map for skills development applicable to role
- Demonstrate commitment to life-long learning and maintaining knowledge of new methods, materials, technologies, etc.
Your Qualifications:
- Demonstrate entry-level experience in producing complete, high-quality project documents in 2D AutoCAD and 3D Revit Structure software platforms. Familiarity with (or preparedness to learn) cloud-based BIM applications such as BIM360
- Entry-level familiarity with how professional structural documents are produced and how they relate to other disciplines documents (architectural, mechanical, etc.)
- Excellent people skills and ability to work effectively in a team under pressure with multiple assignments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Entry-level familiarity with NBCC, CSA building design codes, and other regulatory requirements considered an asset
- Strong commitment to construction safety regulations while conducting site reviews
- Valid driver's licence and ability to occasionally travel to jobsites within Atlantic Canada
- Pro-active willingness to self-review, correct your work, and ask questions
- Detail-oriented and organized to maintain all project quality standards
