PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Regional Director, the Manager, Administration will work closely with the Regional Director, the Branch Managers and Branch Administrators in International Investment Advisory (IIA), ensuring that operational strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and implemented in accordance with applicable regulations, internal policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this role you will:

  • Provide on-going coaching, performance management, guidance, motivation and support to the Branch Administrator (BA).
  • Lead, with the BA, process improvements, with assistance from Head Office.
  • Review and approve all changes to branch support staff to ensure consistent application of IWM and ScotiaMcLeod's strategic initiatives.
  • Provide support to the BA and BMs in the recruiting, hiring, training, terminating of support staff.
  • Assist Regional Director/Branch Managers with recruitment requirements for advisor roles: manage preparation of materials, co-ordinate interviews, work permits, and deal with relevant HR team for letters/work permits.
  • With the BA, lead & hold regular branch support staff meetings.
  • Work to resolve any issues on systems or operations that have been escalated.
  • Ensure branch adherence to privacy, AML and compliance requirements.
  • Effectively communicate and implement policies, procedures, new systems, new initiatives and changes.
  • Escalation point to help resolve issues between Head Office departments and branch.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS
We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 10+ years in the investment industry, with 2 – 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Licensed as an Investment Representative under CIRO (CSC, CPH, IR Training)
  • Spanish language is an asset
  • Solid knowledge of sales management processes, comfort/experience in financial analysis,
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements and operating policies and procedures
  • Understanding of ScotiaMcLeod desktop and processing systems considered an asset
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong coaching and inter-personal skills when interacting with staff, clients or executive
