Overview:
Responsible for originating and executing project financing, structured financing, and debt advisory within the Infrastructure and Project Finance segment in Canada. Collaborate with various industry groups to deploy project finance diligence and structuring best practices. Market, structure, research, prepare client presentations, manipulate financial models, review legal documentation, and manage the due diligence and credit processes. Present financing structuring recommendations to senior executives at client firms largely independently. Manage all credit-related activities including: the completion of credit presentations, identifying lending and cross-sell opportunities, structuring loan transactions, negotiating documentation, and monitoring compliance and industry trends. Contribute to the overall success of the team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


What You'll Do:

  • Champion a client centric culture focused on deepening internal and external client relationships
  • Leverage Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver multi-faceted solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint to generate revenue and primacy
  • Relationship management and cross collaboration including coordinating with the various product groups and industry team within GBM and Canadian Banking
  • Deal-lead responsibilities, leading projects ranging from origination to execution with other departments of the firm such as Canadian Banking, Debt Capital Markets, and Derivative Products Group, applying knowledge and understanding of both banking and capital markets
  • Structure, analyze, and perform thorough due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity with a deep understanding of credit products and application of robust project risk analysis framework
  • Provides concise rationale supporting actions and recommendations to internal and external clients
  • Provide succinct analysis of key risks and mitigants for existing and proposed new business
  • Review, negotiate, and structure credit agreements in collaboration with counsel and consultants
  • Play a key role in the training, development and coaching of Analysts and Associates
  • Develop more junior bankers on their team and across GBM through active engagement on developing their skills (technical, coverage, and other leadership skills) providing real-time positive and constructive feedback to support their development
  • Actively partner with group leaders and broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams, including teams across Canada
  • Assist in resource management and prioritization of work to effectively and efficiently manage team's time and resources
  • Build relationships with clients and all industry participants including financial, legal and technical advisors
  • Be informed of the market trends and best practices in Canada and incorporate as applicable
  • Analyze company information and industry reviews aiming to identify business opportunities
  • Implement and disseminate project financing diligence and structuring best practices
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field and 9 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation:
    • structuring and executing financing for infrastructure projects
    • utilizing negotiation skills and building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • presenting complex financial concepts to diverse audiences; utilizing experience with M&A, debt and equity capital markets, structured products and derivative transactions
    • working with infrastructure client and investor relationships utilizing experience with infrastructure finance transactions in Canada
    • utilizing experience with financial modeling and financial products including bank loans, bonds, rates, FX and structured products; and performing credit risk analysis
  • In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree in one of the above fields and 7+ years of experience in the above-listed skills

Work Arrangement:

  • This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 4-5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
  • Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
