Who you are
You have a worked in a health care sector that has followed a patient and family centred approach to care for a minimum of three to five years. You have experience in project management, change management, managing others, stakeholder relationship building, and public or patient engagement.
Your education includes an undergraduate degree in social sciences or health related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
You have an advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications.

- Customer focused and responsive to the specific and unique needs of each working situation
- Has experience working with volunteers
Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.
What you will do
Patient engagement and experience is a Horizon strategic objective which aligns with the NB Health and Business plan, and Horizon's mission and vision. This is a centre of expertise within the organization to guide and shape the principles and best practices of Patient and Family-Centred-Care. This includes the engagement of patients/ families to be active participants in their health care, as well as engagement in the form of "with input from" and "in partnership with" to make system wide improvements.
The Patient Engagement Specialist reports directly to the Regional Director of Patient Engagement and Experience.
You will:
- Work in close collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders to provide ongoing support to clinical programs/services and non-clinical services in accomplishing PFCC goals and objectives to improve patient experience under the Horizon Patient Engagement Framework.
- Lead or collaborate with stakeholders to address identified system wide PFCC and patient engagement issues, utilizing recognized patient and family evaluation tools, standards and patient engagement data.
- Provide education and encourages the adoption of patient/family engagement best practices and innovative approaches to engage patients and families.
- Lead, coordinate and support patient and family engagement initiatives to achieve Accreditation Canada PFCC best practice standards.
- Lead, collaborate and support volunteer patient experience advisors (PEAs) within the organization including recruitment, training and development
- Leads the implementation and analysis of the PEA program and identify and implement approved opportunities for improvement.
- Leads the implementation of family presence as it aligns with the Horizon's Family Presence Policy and designated support persons (DSPs).
